Waking Poem by Sally Plumb Plumb

Waking

Even whilst sleeping
I am awake
with dreams and nightmares,
the eye shut haunts
of demons and angels,
the bitter tongued taste
of the acorn
and the business
of honey licking sleep lips.

I turn with unawareness
the winding sheet of night
and find myself
tangled with morning.
