Walked To Her Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Walked To Her

Walked to her

Years ago, in Russia
Joined a tour to Suzdal.

Knew Volga's water
Pour in the Caspian.

Was eager to know of,
Romanovs and Poland.

I had done good research,
Cities' shapes and River!

Were about ten cities,
On ring of ZOLATA!

Vladimir was one of,
There, took out camera,
Was aiming to take shots!

Had stopped, taking aim,
Came to me old woman…

This is how was trained:
"Do not trust strangers! "

Was trained to suspect:
"Is spy, шпион! "

Years went by like thunder,
Pictures are reminders.

In times I, look at them!
Sail in time, remember!

Here, in Abbotsford
In a day, late winter
I wore only T-shirt!

Saw a girl almost same,
She wore an open neck,
Exposing parts of chest!

Smoked her cigarette!
"Greetings, " said to her!

And told her smiling:
"If answer correctly
Invite you for coffee, "

Then asked her politely:
"Do you know why said hi? "
Looked at me, mesmerised!

Like woman in Russia
Absolutely was wrong,
Handed me cigarette…

On women, my father,
Had a word of wisdom:
"Never say no to them! "

Accepted girl's offer,
Smiled and explained:
"Many thanks; incorrect,
Will smoke for respect! "

Noticed her fallen jaw,
Looked at her, in the eye:
"You and I feel the same,
Both are lightly dressed,
Look around, see others,
Fighting cold, in bundles! "

She headed for a car,
Boyfriend, or a guy…

Put her head in window,
Came to me with lighter!

Now reading articles:
"Uyghurs and genocide, "
"Yemen-deaths-and-Iraq, "
I think of those judgments,
Brainwashed, invasions!
