Wandersong Poem by Alexzia Ferdinand

Wandersong

it's nights like these where all i want
is to go. so i'm packing
up my backpack, leaving tomorrow
morning, preferably.
but tonight i'm writing lines noone wants
to read with your heart of amber on my mind.
i'm a fossil, time passes by and i'm frozen in motion.
stuck, in oozing honey and lie
to me one more time babe.
just do it, blaze your way
one more time
dear.
my backpack's by the door. i'm ready.
can't get much more protected then a fossil. so
let's try again. door opens but a secret exit i won't
tell. sneaking away to somewhere
foreign. take care of my heart
please. it's leaving time
wrote a note, blew a dry,
last day of autumn kiss and
exit stage right.
you missed your cue darling.
far too late for the applause and roses
now. i can't say come back,
instead come with me
be with me and we will
traverse the world as a pair.
maybe then nights like these
won't sneak up on me.
