War Poem by Christopher Montalvo

War

(Dedication/Inspiration: Papa Roach)

Life is a bullet,
Getting away with murder,
Issuing a state of emergency,
In these days of war,
Filled with blood and empty promises,
Fired by the snakes who seek revenge,
Virtue is thrown away,
Cloaked in a blanket of fear,
Society becomes a broken home,
The world around you,
Forever filled with black clouds,
Alive and out of control.

My heart becomes a fist,
Blood fueling the fire,
Survival is never enough,
Combat is my last resort,
Wishing to be free,
But these battle scars refuse to heal,
Time is running out,
Time to stop looking at my flaws,
Start seeing the world through my eyes,
We devise our own demise,
So lay black roses on my grave,
Because I was born with nothing,
But I died with everything.
