War We Call Love Poem by kimberly hays

War We Call Love

Rating: 5.0

Darkness trails behind the warrior
As he journeys to a land
Eyes hid by a visor of pain
As he slowly takes his stand
The warrior's armor glistens in the light
As he prepares to his life to give
Fights for love and honor
And that his queen my live
Screams his challenge to the lord
Over the castle in which she is held
Charges then and their lances shatter
On a now bloody field
Grabs his queen and his stead
Then they ride off to the east
On their way to Camelot
At the gate, the king they meet
The battle won as was his heart
The secret he must keep
In her dreams he comes and goes
So the queen just cannot sleep
She slips off to his room
And is caught in his embrace
The king now must make a choice
So their lives the price they pay
This valiant knight won all his fights
Below the heaven above
But the one fight he could not win
This war that we call love
