Was I That One? Poem by Anthony Joseph Erangey

Was I That One?

Was I that one who tucked you in?
“Angel of God, ” you would begin,
Then you’d say “my Guardian dear,
To whom God’s love, commits me here, ”
I’d see your eyes, so void of sin

“Ever this day, ” our hopes we’d pin,
“Be at my side, ” toss me a grin,
“To light and guard, ” your love sincere,
Was I that one?

“To rule and guide, ” I'd kiss your chin,
Our day recount, tall tales I’d spin,
I’d tell you I, am glad you’re here,
And never, ever, live in fear.
“Amen, “we’d voice, above the din,
Was I that one?
