Wasted Energy. Poem by Oscar Munir

Wasted Energy.

I put efforts for you to recognize the fact that I loved you,
We talked, we texted, and even met several times,
Seeing you smile, was my target whenever with you,
Had you gotten something to eat? were you sad? happy? worried or scared? I was always concerned.

Nothing else mattered in your presence,
For you I ignored my calls and cancelled my appointments,
Never at any point did I go on any other date, never,
The happy times and the sad times, I was there when you needed a shoulder and an ear.

Even mere sitting just next to you with absolutely nothing to say was priceless to me,
In your eyes I could stare for the whole day without a complaint,
Ahh and when you went missing,
You should have seen how tense and bothered I became.

My whole voice shook with fear, my eyes flooded with tears,
My heart raced and I lost appetite for everything only till I found you,
But it looks like fate was against me,
For all the efforts I put to show you I cared in a special way were all in vain.

My intentions were always clean but you got mad at some of my steps,
You said they were unnecessary, uncalled for and unreasonable,
I so much wanted to prove I loved you, for I really do, I confess this but,
The more I try to get close to you the more mess, in your eyes I make and it really hurts you have no idea.
