Waves Poem by Hannah Diane Williams

Waves

You were a rose.
I touched you and
Your thorns cut me.

You were poison ivy,
I brushed your side,
And rash enveloped my body
And I couldn't breathe.

You were an ocean,
I just wanted to swim,
But before I realized it,
I was dragged into your whirlpool.

I thrashed around,
And begged someone to save me,
But no one came
And I wound up drowning.
