Ways Of Ours Poem by Somanathan Iyer

Ways Of Ours

Scene 1

with strewn over waste
for months together
yet frequented by many
a place was looking a debris land
while passing through
though feeling uncomfortable
bothered no one
to make or get it cleaned
for a long watching all this
an old man though fragile
single handed swung into action
by removing debris bit by bit
a noble soul he is applauded all
yet no one gave a helping hand
struggles still the old man
all alone though he is not
the cause for all this rot

scene 2

a nice road end it was
with a small pond over there
and a vast terrain as play ground
many a children gathered
there in the evenings
and the place looked
festive like with all their noise
walked over there a great soul
at the fall of darkness one day
looking here and there
slipped down some rotten fruits
and vanished in the darkness
one more waste found there
a place the following day
one after one from all the houses
added their wastes making there a heap
pond got contaminated soon
causing an odor all through the place

summary

noble deeds hardly find
support from all
every hand plays its role
in adding the mess
