We Are Poem by Randy McClave

We Are

We are just like each other
Even though we share not the same father or mother,
In this life we have taken the very same hike
So, as I think, we are so much alike.
You and I have walked the very same road
And we have carried the very same load,
Now when I reminisce of my life's own reps
I now see only you, in my footsteps.
We have shared the same sadness and pain
While being soaked in the same freezing rain,
We have both been hit, and cut and bruised
We have also been hurt and tricked and used.
You and I have opened the very same door
But, we walked in on a different floor,
I have heard you in my wishes and my thoughts
As we have untied the very same knots.
You have opened my closed and visioned eyes
I now see you as a victory prize,
When I think of an adventure I think of us two
Now when I look into a mirror, I always see you.
