We Are Lost Poem by Tierra Bradley

We Are Lost

Far away from humanity
I breathe your name
And feel you with me
A burden lifted from my heart
Knowing you're here
Devastation and despair all around
The world is different now
Memories no longer pleasant
New images take over the mind
Fallen trees, burnt buildings
Bare ground, humanity destroyed
I am the last
And you are gone
Good times and bad times
Burnt from my memory
Happy times, sad times
Gone without a trace
Family, friends, you
Far, far away
Just me and this damaged world
I walk around but I am lost
Twists and turns are twins
Nothing moves
Not even the air around me
For there is nothing to move
But me
Just me
I am the last
And destined to wander
Without you by my side
Damnation is my future
For a life without you
Is a sky without stars
A moon with no sun
Me without you
You are the Romeo
To my Juliet
And this world is keep us apart
This huge, dreadful, dreary world
Peace on Earth out the window
Hold's us an arm-length apart
This world
This time
We are lost
