We Are Summer Poem by Edwina Reizer

We Are Summer

We are summer. We are fall.
We are springtime and through it all
we await the time of winter's chill
and the thought of that makes me ill.

For I am in love with heat from the sun
and though the humidity weighs like a ton,
to me 'tis better than ice and snow
and fierce winds that roar and blow.

And yet I look around and see
many people not like me.
They love winter and the cold.
They're the young, not the old

Younger bones can move around.
Older bones remain house-bound.
Yes, I am summer, I am fall.
I am springtime and through it all
the winter season I'm not at all.
