We Are The Tamils Of Ivc Poem by Veeraiyah Subbulakshmi

We Are The Tamils Of Ivc

Rating: 5.0

I am a girl from IVC. with slender hip,
strong leg with anklets of yellow gold,
black as coal with snowy white teeth,
a girl from Harappan city always bold.

I am a girl from a submerged city,
where my father built castles as duty,
the dams with canals filled with desire,
to quench thirst and subduehunger.

I am a boy from the city of IVC,
the sons of a great divine yogi.
valiant warrior of multiple talents,
had friends of various nations.

many theories and formula written as hymn,
gravitation force never was a problem,
hoisted hundreds of tons of stone,
on painfully carved tower to adorn.

the grazing fields left for cattle,
where dogs and rabbits play in puddle,
desert camel not thirsty of water,
Deer kavari has fur to declare chastity.

we are girls and boys of IVC,
where we grow languages as barley,
those dispersed take a bit from our treasury,
WE Tamils, though poor now, practice meritocracy..
