A sonnet
We can choose our way, even when most liable,
Even when the Capos come to smash
The seeming insurvivable,
All aware it's far too late to dash.
We can choose our way, regardless of duress,
Not all but surely some of humankind,
In the worst of physical and psychic stress
With spirit free and independent mind.
We can choose our way, even if to die,
Connecting with our kin who've led the way,
Mindful ours is not to wonder why
But reaching to a God to whom we pray.
Some will cringe whichever way we turn,
We can choose our way, soon we all will burn.
