We Can'T Breathe … Poem by Hebert Logerie

We Can'T Breathe …

We can no longer breathe the toxic fumes of racism
We can't breathe
We can no longer accept this type of cynicism
We can't breathe
We can no longer swallow this shameful saliva
We can't breathe
We can no longer be silent in these cities of chaos
We can't breathe
We can no longer continue to pay those bullies big bucks
We can't breathe
We can no longer stand like cowards on the bloody sidewalks
We can't breathe
We must protest, expose and denounce all types of brutalities
We can't breathe
We must fight to stop the unnecessary hostilities
We can't breathe
We must vote for the candidates who will protect our communities
We can't breathe
We must find a way to protect the lives of all, including all minorities
We can't breathe
Black people are human beings too
We can't breathe
White people are human beings too
We can't breathe
Brown, yellow and poor people are human beings too
We can't breathe
We will see and get our justice before we turn blue
Trayvon, Michael Brown, and Eric Garner died in extreme pain
They fought like Heroes; they did not die in vain
We must change and make the system better
Our brothers and sisters died for our future
We must make them proud by defeating the criminals
Which, at times, behave worse than wild animals
We will challenge the system, defy it and make it accountable
For their crimes; we will defeat the system by winning every battle.
