We Cannot Crush Christ Poem by Achim Wollscheid

We Cannot Crush Christ

We crush and crush the bones of precious bodies.
They scratch and tear, but still they are so flawless.
We punch and kick the beauty from the eyes of them,
But still we see a rarity that sparkles.
It’s just like us to try to find a mirror
Reflecting all the ugly hate that lives within
Our minds and in our hearts and in our sins.
The bloody picture that we see here is so vivid.
It bring us back to times we never lived;
The crucifying of the Lord Jesus flashes.
The whip cracks loudly in our ears,
But we do not cry...it's as if we do not care.
It’s like we see nothing happening here!
Like there is no cross, and there is no shame..
And we are not the ones to blame,
But we crushed and cracked the love that saved
Humanity. We struck the man who paid
For all our filthy decadent ways.
But still…He is so faithful from day to day.
He loves us in such an indescribable way.
We distort the good things placed in our lives,
But there is nothing we can do to crush Christ.
