He entertained us with his jokes
and charming personality
that's why we couldn't see
the raging sea of emotions
buried deep inside him

He always put on a brave face
when our courage was scarce
that's why we couldn't see
the fustrations and misery
causing him to shrink into anxiety

He'd often render his shoulders
to lean on - for others
that's why we couldn't see
he was desperately in need
of someone to confide in

He also comforted those who mourn
and supported people whose joy was gone
what's why we couldn't seewhim slowly falling apart
from a broken heart

As long as he appeared to be strong
no one would guess that something was wrong
because, depression can sometimes reside
in least expected places
that is why it tends to hide
in seemingly happy and brave faces
