I came from a culture of pop and dance
But never for once was she allowed to dip
And shake to the mystique rhythms in her hips
She was never allowed to dance.
That first night when I open the door
Pushed the chairs from the middle of the floor
To make some space for my intention
So that we can dance.
I invited her to this happy rendezvous,
She in my arms it felt like romantic a déjà vu
Like a soft and precious quilt, no clue
Her passion for dancing came aglow
With that first move she stepped on my toe
I had to squinch while she still in my arms
So we could dance.
Her annoying anxiety soon took to flight
Her symmetrical body in a swag and sway
Gliding in my arms with a tight embrace
Never knew the mystery of her body and grace
How rhythmic and smooth her circuitous waste
So pleased that we did the dance.
Elated with the smooth of that night
Eyes sparkling, teeth grinning in the light
Her heart now laced with much surprise
And over the years we've done it with dine
Our dance is extraordinary a happy incline
This fabulous act has provided the glue
We dance! We dance! We dance!
We'll never exchange it for another design
Our music and dance so sweet and sublime
Graciously warms the heart and thrills the soul
And though we started with messy steps
We've mastered the art with no shame or regret
Yet not in perfect harmony with the moves
Keeping our heartbeat steady for tune
So we dance! We dance! We can dance!
