We Have A Heart Poem by Francis Kokutse

We Have A Heart

Greater hatred
has a human being
who can look another
in the eye and get
him captured to be
sold for no other
reason but the colour
his skin.

That was what my
grandparents suffered
in the hands of people
who betrayed them
simply because they
showed them love.

But we having known
better would show great
love to those who destroyed
our souls long ago
to prove that we have a heart.
