We Meet Again... Poem by Gisela Ireland

We Meet Again...

Rating: 5.0

At first I didn’t recognize you
I thought that you were queer
One look into each other’s eyes
Our souls revealed and bare

Identities forgotten
Identities recalled
That essence beyond age and words
Beseeches … “One more time”

You don’t remember?
Funny, neither do I
Those countless moments
We must have shared

Brothers as friends …
Children at play…
Lovers at war…
Mother and babe…

Kings in glory…
Jesters at best…
Leaders corrupt …
People astray…

Traitors in cloak...
Soldiers in arms…
Blood shed on swords…
Comrades in aid…

A cherished kiss…
A warm hug…
Carnal desire…
Hunter and prey …

Women weaving…
Daughters dancing…
Secrets revealed …
Rapture another …

Myriad arrangements
Seconds galore
And here we are
We meet again …
