We Pray Poem by Micheal Olaniyi

We Pray

Rating: 4.5

Nothing can bring us to your feet,
If not for what we've learnt about your mercy,
Nothing can still drag us nearer,
If not for what we know about your grace,
As we come to your presence
Is not because of our holiness,
So we are sober and humbled,
Hoping for your forgiveness
For this is why we pray.

If you have come for the righteous,
Holy ones and the purified,
What of we the broken sinners?
Stocked in the mud and
In need of a hand to draw.
Some say we are hypocrite,
Whenever we bow in worship
Because we confesses our sins
For God to hear and clearly see.
They call us weak and poor
But the mightiest will make us strong.

dwelling in our sins is like
Drowning in the sea.
Oh lord! Let our faith be still
And your eyes visible for us to see.
We pray, pray and pray lord.
So when we go astray
Correct us our father,
But only in your mercy
Not in your anger,
Lest we are reduced to nothing.
