We Sing A New Pledge Poem by Francis Kokutse

We Sing A New Pledge

A new day shall announce its dawn
Light, it shall bring to town
And all darkness shall be gone
New things shall be done.

Kingdoms abroad will know
Yesterday's night left us now,
Evil dust that blew wild
Refuse, shall become the mild
Embers of fire that will consume
Men who refuse to reform.

A new dawn is what will come
To make anew pledges to welcome
Engines of new thoughts to come,
New thinking to release us from evil.
