Weep, Then Sleep - Poem by Michael Romero

I want to sleep.
Lord! Can You hear me now?
I want to sleep.
Lord! Can You hear me now?
Don’t wake me up.
Jesus Christ! No!
Don’t wake me up.
I guarantee that I will disappoint you.

Idisappointmyself.
Every aspect of my life is a disappointment.
Every shred of decency is a fabrication.

Ifabricatemysoul.
Myself is unlike myself
and
myself is in conflict with righteousness.
My friend, guilt, reminds me of a
t i m e
when I was at peace with
Righteousness.
How I desire peace!
Peace of mind.
Peace on earth.
Peace in my soul.
Peace to sleep.

I want to sleep.
Lord! Can you hear me now?
I want to sleep.
Lord! Can you hear me now?
Don’t make me wake up.
Don’t force me to arise.
Let me sleep.
Let me be.
I wish I was
