Weeping Poem by Brandon Lucero

Weeping

Twice a day she called to say
she loved in such miraculous ways

Now my blood runs warm
I weathered the most violent storms

I don't direct
observations are so much clearer

I don't object
letting go is so much freer

Hearts guide our weary legs
she pleaded with God to make me stay

All her plans disappeared into the night air
I sat far away with a neutral stare

Water feels so mighty and strong
shaping the world with persistence

I came to see the water didn't fight
I came to see the path is light

Experience hardened my essence for years
drove me to endless tears

Weeping for souls that held on too long
weeping for her
I will carry on
