Weight Of The World On A Child's Shoulders. Poem by Marcondes Pereira

Weight Of The World On A Child's Shoulders.

Rating: 5.0

Where is your doll, your toy car, or your action figure?
"I put away his toys, he grew up faster
than I thought. Now, he needs another form of pleasure."
where is your toy blocks, puzzle, or memory game?
I put away her toys, she feels shame
about them, she spoke that a crush is better."
childhood is just a concept, just a name

Boys using ties, suits and briefcases,
"they need to learn how to earn money."
Girls using earrings, lipsticks and purses.
"World is not easy, and you need to survive, honey."

The poem brings to fore the impact of changes that the growing age brings about in boys and girls. Old toys and things become obsolete much sooner. They want to pursue a new line of action. Thanks.
