Welcome Home Poem by Lora Colon

Welcome Home

Your love was looking for a home
And my heart was a vacant room,
Cold and neglected was the hearth,
Not one ember to light the gloom

How I longed for love that would calm
The tempest crashing on my shore,
Then God placed your hand into mine
And troubled waters roiled no more

Darkened portals now radiate
As the hearth burns with a soft glow,
The warmth of love floods o'er this room,
As new blossoms heave through the snow

In this room draped with Heaven's light
Each day our love writes a new hymn,
While angels hum the melody
We embrace 'til our eyes grow dim

Together we walk the gardens,
The Tree of Love, laden with fruits,
No need to partake sparingly,
O, so strong and deep are the roots

You now hold the key to this room
From which I hope you'll never roam,
Each day I'll shower you with hugs
And kisses that say 'Welcome Home! '

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

there must BE a God after all..............that i happened to return to this and found your response to my earlier comment! ! ! ! well, maybe not God. Muse? ? i have never seen to-where the poet's responses go except to the poem's page under the referred to comment. so i never see responses to my comments UNLESS i happen to return to the poem, which i rarely do OR the poet sends the response to me in a message; today i did return, but only because i wanted to read your latest and wasn't sure if i'd read this one. but as i started to read, i did recognize it. and then..................WOW. a response, a nice one, one allowing [nearly BEGGING] me to use it in the showcases! ! ! ! ! ! THANKS. I SHALL place it into Section C of November's 2016 showcase asap. good to hear from you. no rumors starting here! ha ha bri :)

Well, I'm so happy you approve of this poem, Bri. I have been trying to stay upbeat, in between my tears and my suicide attempts. Ha Just kidding. JUST KIDDING, so don't start any rumors. But I do appreciate your humor. I can't help but laugh after reading some of your remarks. Don't ever change. And if your Showcase yearns for this poem, then you must not deny that yearning. Please include it as you see fit. Lora
