Went For A Ride Poem by Marilyn Lott

I found some interesting places
As I went for a ride the other day
Some of these places
I don’t think I’d want to stay

Saw an old and broken house
It was way beyond its prime
The poor building was falling down
It was filled to the brim with grime

But in the pasture it was different
Bales of hay kept the field in use
Someone still cared for the land
Not a bit of neglect or abuse

Then there were cars on down the road
Looked like a gun had exploded
Bullet holes through the windows
The entire car was corroded

But I found a place for lunch
Squawk N Skoot was the name
Chicken was the theme
If I hadn’t stopped it’d be a shame

So when you’re bored some time
Just get in your car and take a ride
It’s amazing what you’ll come across
If you don’t let anything slide!
