Western Weather Conversation Cherry Blossoms Poem by Terence George Craddock

Western Weather Conversation Cherry Blossoms

the weather is as changeable as the seasons
the safe topic to talk about in public at parties
the safe topic to politely discuss in public at parties
the weather whether we want to hear it or not

the weather can be culturally appreciated loved
sakura glorious cherry blossom limited to the elite
to the Imperial Court then to honourable samurai
cherry blossom pure white tinged with palest pink

clouds blooming in mass ephemeral fleeting flower
focus follow sakura zensen cherry blossom front
moves northward in approach of warmer weather

blossoming in Okinawa breeze whispers into Kyoto Tokyo
time shifts in wave appreciation adoration to Hokkaido
at parks shrines temples celebrate cherry blossom beauty
