W.H. Poem by Percy Dovetonsils

W.H.

Winslow Homer
mastered the art
of dashing off
free and easy sketches
of cavalrymen
in mid fight
and flight,

his pencil
light and easy
on the paper
as a skier
on the slopes,
as a skater
on the ice,
light and easy
as a playwright
playing with his play,
letting his characters
have their say,

light and easy
as two lovers
who know
their way
around each other's
bodies and hearts
and know
when to come
together
and when
to part.
