What About Me Poem by the Nickster

What About Me

I was told I resembled you-your name was on the tip of their tongue
I have tried to forget you the way you have forgotten me, but I can't
I wonder WHY
Why does every TV show remind me of you
Why does every good father/daughter relationship remind me of what could have been, and every dysfunctional relationship remind me of what we have
Why, after 45 years does the thought of never knowing you grieve me
Why do I think of you every waking hour
Why so many tears for someone I've never met
WHAT ABOUT ME
Do you ever think of me
Do you care that I'm hurting
Do you care that I care
Do you wonder what I'm doing or what I've been through
Do you know that I love you just for being you

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
They say you can't miss what you never had. I beg to differ. Every daughter needs her father.
