'What Any Loving Parent Would Do' Poem by Melissa Darsey

'What Any Loving Parent Would Do'

Rating: 5.0

**Since August the 20th our Goo had fallen sick,
Just started Kindergarten, not long after her very 1st day.
Suddenly she felt better, then went downhill pretty quick,
First a sore throat, then positive for covid, now this 'Croupe' cough, will not go away.

**But praise God in awhile, she'll start taking her steroid med,
On the road to recovery, & back to herself once more.
I can't believe it's so contagious or I would hold her close instead,
I was certain she had this 'Croupe, ' because she previously caught one time before.

**Yet I couldn't help but notice that it would worsen more at night,
It looked like it was impossible for her to get any amount of rest.
I have a feeling this medicine will help her to finally be alright,
I can't imagine the pain, that's been pulsating throughout her chest.

**So last night I kept watch over our poor little Goo,
I just felt so horrible, my words cannot explain.
I didn't care if I had sleep, I did what any loving parent would do,
Because nobody wants to see their child suffer through so much pain.
