What Be Love? Poem by Macy (Nina) Dvirnak

What Be Love?

What be love?

This I ask-

Is it dew dropped petals,
And sweet romance?

Perhaps love be in a lustful mood,
And is pleased by passing pleasure.

Ah, no!
This must not be!

Is not love a rare and precious gem,
So highly treasured?

There must be,
A reason why-

Poeple search for love,
And reach for it,
When it passes by.

Perhaps,
Love be anxious,
And Joins with anyone on whim.

Perhaps love be a tempter,
Causing falls,
By wine and candelight.

Perhaps love be evasive-
A thing which cannot be grasped.

Perhaps love be too shy,
Or too expensive,
And therefore isn't asked.

Perhaps love is tired,
And has no desire for a lover.

Perhaps love be a dangerous and painful thing,
And is to be avioded at all costs.

Perhaps love be a wanderer, lonely-
Who searches for fllfillment from many a partner's door,
That sadly, lasts not,
And only grows to a larger hunger than before.

Perhaps love be a preditor,
That stalks and subdues its victims,
Because pleasing pleasure is sought.

Perhaps,
Love be defeated,
And trusts not-

For it believes that all is lost.

No!
This must not be true!

Is not love itself,
Something more?

What be love?

Tell me! -
I implore!

Love,

Is not momentary.

Rather it be a commitment,
Lifelong.

Love is not Romance,
And love is not Pain.

Love is not conditional,
And love is not vain.

Love is not angry,
Love does not envy, love does not leave thee-

And love is not proud.

Love is not,
So what be love?

Love is,
Compassionate-
Passionate-
Permanate.

Love is courageous,
And love is contagious.

Love is unchanging,
Undying,
And defeat defying.

Love...

It lives on beyond the bonds of death.

Love humbles itself to the likes of a servant,
And is devoted to its final breath.

Love is,
But What be love?

Love, is true.

Love knows no bounds.

Love is honest.

Love is a genuine relationsip.

Love is a gift from God.

Love is patient, kind, generous, and humble.

Love is not rude,
Or selfish,
Nor is love easily provoked.

Love keeps no account of past wrongs.

Love does not delight itself in evil desires,
But rather,
Love dwells in truth.

Love trusts,
Love protects,
Love hopes,
Love perserveres-

Love never fails.

Love does not cease.

Love is,
And
Love is not.

So what be love?

The answer be this-

Love,
Is love.

It is a legacy that two leave.

Love surrenders all.

Love is there to care,
And here to help.

So then-

What be love?

You, must decide this for yourself-
And determine what to you love means.

As for me,
Love is a timeless gift,
That is both honorary
And revolutionary

Love is a force,
Which cannot be stopped.

Love is a sacred,
And heartfelt deed.

Yes.

This is what love be.
