What Can You Tell Me? Poem by Edwina Reizer

What Can You Tell Me?

What can you tell me to keep me still?
I think you have no words.
Is there something you can say to me
to give me back the will
to continue with a life unfair
and take in breaths of bitter air?

I think there's nothing you can say
to explain to me my lot.
For your words are unexplainable.
They leave me with what I'm not.

I'm not content to want you so.
I'm not content to let you go.
I'm not content to ever know
why my feelings take me low.
I'm not content at all.
In fact I can't recall
when it was I was content.
Maybe it was when you were sent
to love me.
