What Could Be True Seeking? Poem by Kiran Pillai

What Could Be True Seeking?

Who could be a true seeker? What is seeking?
Someone chases women. Someone chases money.
Someone chases love and someone power.
Someone is after the perfect afterlife.

Who among the seekers is a true seeker?
Passion might be present in all seekers.
The world has seen great power seekers for long.
We have had people seeking pleasure profusely.

What am I after? How is my seeking true?
I may say I am seeking joy. How is that different. I would like money or some pleasure too.
What really is the true seeking in this world?

Spiritual seeking is the one we call "seeking"
But, is that true seeking. A real goal they say.
Masters who found reality say it is worth seeking.
The real joy at end of all the world.

Who goes far enough to bring back spiritual treasure?
What treasure is true seeking after all?
I wish to find something real. Something tangible.
Is spiritual treasure something to hold? Maybe it is.

I wish I could find the way to true seeking.
Seek God and you shall find. So says scriptures.
Some warn you may drop dead if you find God.
So, then waste time seeking fleeting pleasures?

What could really be true seeking? Do I find?
I ask for seeking in some manner. What do I find?
I am seeking something. But, heart is silent.
Maybe true seeking is effortless glory. No effort.

Maybe true seeking is one where life is silent.
Life goes on. But, something insides races to the goal.
Is that happening within me? To spiritual ends?
Maybe I am a seeker. Maybe I may not be a true seeker.
