What Could The Winter Walk Tell Me Poem by Sarah Mkhonza

What Could The Winter Walk Tell Me

Here where the cold bites
sings winter birds on snowy
trails. Winter quiet trees
seem like the only relatives
I have.

When pushed by the cold further
into my coat. I leave my nose
to smell the cold with sniffs.
My legs so heavy, I see the
door open to welcome my lonely
soul.

One person walking alone,
confirms there are stI'll
others on this trail. Snow
like cotton falls on the
leaves, which lay covered
as if asleep.

Beams of lights far away,
tell of a car coming into
our place. It is darker
as we settle down. Till
dawn bring us another day,
my cup shall warm me with
its contents. For these
contents in this winter make
my spirit sing.
