What Do You See? Poem by Brigitt Rodriguez

What Do You See?

Look at me
What do you see?
One in a wave of meaningless faces
Or a young girl just floating through life
Maybe a woman wise through experience?
A hopeless romantic yearning for praises
A lady in the process of becoming a wife
Perhaps a shallow child, caring only of my appearance
Possibly a student with great potential
Or a troubled soul in need of guidance
Someone whose opinion is always essential?
Or just a person whose heart is immense
A future politician, fit to change the world?
Simply someone’s kid of no great importance
Maybe just the one whose hair is always curled?
Could I be all of these? Or maybe none at all?
The possibilities are endless and the faces are many
But tell me, what do you see?
When you look at me.
