What Does One Say, God? Poem by Marilyn Lott

What Does One Say, God?

What does one say when someone
Loses their most treasured one
Who means the world to him or her
When that loved one is simply gone?

Only that person knows how it hurts
For each situation is different, I know
We all have tragedies in our lives
For in most cases it is so hard to let go.

What do we say, God, when it happens?
For at times they don't want to go on
Each morning they wake up to emptiness
They do not know now where they belong.

"I'm sorry" does not seem to be enough
But I think it lets that person know
We care so very deeply
And hope that God will help their life flow.
