What Goes Up Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

What Goes Up

Rating: 4.0

What goes up

Thick and thin, two layers
-of his eyes showed the depth
-seemingly two curtains
-covering the stage
-of movie theatres
-cinemas with the shows
-about gods, too ancient…

With his look and forehead
-painted waves and wrinkles
-as if sands in deserts
-he is old Laleh-Zar in Tehran

With the shows going on
-as if on Broadway

Scripts are written
-by the years of his age

Creamy-beige and thin
- ‘cataracts' is curtain
-twisting thick curtain

Both cover, by hiding
- the depths of story
-of the years
- (the gone-by)

And he sits like mirror
-revealing a message:
- "This curtain will soon fall
-to loot the treasures and the wealth,
-of the ups and the downs of decades."

He spoke slowly of the "Fin"
-in French or Latin
-showing "End" of movie:
- "We read it on the falling curtain;
-that went up then came down…"
-he said and then added:
- "Soon will meet in seabed."
