What Happens? Poem by Crystal Johnson

What Happens?

Rating: 5.0

What happens when you love someone,
And they don't love you back?
How can you go on living,
If they took all that you had?

What happens when a broken heart,
Is impossible to mend?
How can you keep on going,
If it's crooked, shattered, and bent?

What happens when your smile,
Slowly starts to fade?
Do you stop pretending you're happy,
Or just fake it one more day?

What happens when your dreams are crushed,
In the palm of someone's hand?
Do you rush and try to save them,
Or let them slip like grains of sand?

What happens when your teardrops,
Just won't seem to stop?
Do you quickly wipe each one away,
Or wait for them to be caught?

What happens when reality,
Doesn't seem so real?
What happens when the pain inside,
Is suddenly all you feel?

What happens when someone you know,
Becomes someone you knew?
What happens when all that you have,
Becomes all you have to lose?

What happens when the boy you love,
Becomes the man you hate?
Or the girl that used to trust you,
Becomes the girl you once betrayed?

What happens when your family says,
You're just not worth their time?
The words, 'You're just not good enough.'
Are engraved inside your mind.

What happens when no one supports you,
And all you can do is fall?
What happens when you realize,
That now you have nothing at all?

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

All I can say is......what happens then is that you brush yourself off and learn from it all. (What's the alternative?) We can crumble and be miserable or we can gain power from our pain and be survivors. I believe you will be a survivor Crystal. Take care. Sincerely, Mary
