What Happens Through The Night Poem by Hope Knight

What Happens Through The Night

Rating: 5.0

Our life is alike the road.
We have a lot of people with us in the daylight.
And as darkness creeps at the horizon,
people go away.
Until the time comes,
in the pitch black darkness of the night we have no one left.

Some may say the lamps give us company,
they give us hope that
that sometime from now the light will increase
but until then, we have to stay.
We are not alone. The light of hope exists.

Just when we are going to give up to the night,
we see a ray until is is all but just a ray.
That light is not hope,
it is the reward for hoping against hope that there will be light.

But in this war of light and day, some people give away
they do not have anything to loose anyway.
These are the people who have not seen the light of life.
For them the lamps were too dim.
They have not felt the light warm their bodies to the core
they have not felt the power to fight back seethe in them.

For them the source of struggle is not the warmth spread by the light of hope or life,
it is by feeling the love that is showered upon them.
It is not the will to stand up in the light to fight the dark,
it is to drown their sorrows of the night in a bath.
They are one with what they want.
That is what keeps them through the night.
