What I Lived Through Poem by Raj Dronamraju

What I Lived Through

Did I really live through this?
It feels like a story in an old archived newspaper
A piece of history before I was born

You have no life until you've been loved
Found your definition in the thoughts about you of another
In their kind caresses and eyes full of sympathy and knowing

The sense of remembering
Something you're in fact going through for the first time
But what you have lived through feels like fantasy

You do not exist until you are real to another person
Real as a heartbeat, take her hand and place it on your chest
You are full of all they've poured into you

The bygone exposure we throw at a bigger canvas
Produces only a removal of self from your past
I only know you from your public appearances

You could save a life today
The Samaritan made our time together a good one
The explanation of who sent you in actual terms, the imagination verified
