What If (2005) Poem by Lillian B. Rose

What If (2005)

What if I lost you memory
what if the crash never happened
What if God told me to choose
Between the night sky and a future

What if I bruched your face with your hand
What if God called me a homewrecker
What if the pit falls covering the moon
Stood between Him and me

What if loyalty bound two brothers
What if I was already in the way
What if I never stopped to look
And saw a smile on your face

What if I don't leap; what if again I retreat
What if I walk back into my skin
What if I didn't rush to be with someone new
Would any of it matter now

Today I felt your arms rock me
Pain streamed over me in shock
for yesterday I prayed the car would stop
and today I am screaming into the ear of God.
