Where Were You? (2001) Poem by Lillian B. Rose

Where Were You? (2001)

A lightening bolt, out of the blue
a bomb exploding was what I knew
Nervous again did I feel
Where were You?

The Fear of a time passed and gone
The shaky steps the moment afforded
Feel so close in memory now
Where were You?

The way pins and needles held my heart
and numbness, my face's glow
Running feet placing distance between him and me
Where were You?

The way his shifts scared me - even now
When near collasping was I
the tension plagues my mind
Where were You?

The thunder moving in around me
Forcing the mind to recall to fast
What fear he held over my weak heart
Where were You?

The memories are enough
Kicking my illness in high gear
So sick my stomach hurts
Where were You?
