What If...? Poem by Rhonda Baker

What If...?

Rating: 5.0

What if I just let go and hang on no more
Would you be able to catch me before my body hits the floor?
Would you be to far away to even hear me call?
Would you be too busy to put your work in a stall?
What if I just let go and cared no more
Would I be worth the time, or just a simple bore
Would the world stop, and linger just a second over me
Or would it continue to spin, as if on a playground spree
What would they say if I sang with all my heart?
Would they hush me? And say ”It’s not your time or Part”
What if I dressed like a Cher, all wild and free?
Would they just laugh and point at me?
What if I wanted to be a Psychiatrist all wise and caring?
Would they whisper, “She’s got nothing worth sharing? ”
What if I cover the world in colorful glass?
Would they notice it as the world spins past?
What if I wrote a poem to touch everyone’s heart?
Would I feel included or be a separate part”
What if I were confident, happy and bright?
Would the world still try and dim my light?
