What If Poem by Victoria Ritchie

What If

What if someone told you?
That you’re going to die
That your time is close
And you can’t change that
What if you wake up?
And can’t remember anything
Who you are, who you were
Or who you’re going to be
What is after years of going to church?
Let’s say you die
And find no god
And heavens a lie
What if you jump from the 7th floor?
But you don’t fall at all
There is no gravity
And physic is junk
I’m sure that sometime…
You’ve said always and never…
But I’m also sure…
That you’re going to regret it later…
I’m sure you have thought…
You have seen something perfect…
But I’m also sure…
That you’ll open your eyes later…
You go to sleep…
Appreciating all you have…
Family…
Friends…
Love…
Your entire life…
And you wake up the next day…
Between four white walls...
No doors…
No windows…
No life…
No future…
No past …
No present…
What am I…?
Can you be sure…?
That you’ll wake up the next day…
Can you be sure…?
Your friend won’t betray…
Would you give up your life…?
For someone you love…
Would that person do the same…?
How do you know…?
Have you been in so much pain…?
That you have felt the exact moment…
When all your tears met your eyes…
And your heart fell apart…
Would you like to live all this…?
The follow my advice…
Trust someone in your life…
And wait until the knife is in your back…
Walking breathing…
But dead inside…
Smiling laughing…
But crying inside…
Kissing touching…
But dying inside…
My nightmare is…
A broken heart…
