What Is This Life? Poem by Connie Tallada

What Is This Life?

This life is anybody's game
Nobody is sure of winning
Many wants a place in the sun
While others play just for fun
I learned how to play the games
Inattentively I race through deformity
Defrauding every angle of my life

With deathless curiousity
I continue to struggle bravely
Ignoring the harm along the way
I seek for my own fortune
Believing that I can make my own destiny

I keep on searching
For the things that I don't have
I created and draw my own life map
I rejected natural occurences
I learned to refuse while other's don't
I made uncommon things turn to common
I refused to believe while others do
I tried and forced myself to make a difference
I duel against universal reality
Living the life of my fantasy

I disagree to emulate others
While they are embezzling their ecstasy
I keep on creating my own history
Still, there's a big question left in me
'What is this life
that they call a happy story? '
