What is this that I do say?
That YOU are with me every day
To keep me safe and free from harm
And to praise YOU, LORD, in my own way.
I have no pain in my left leg,
But wonder why in my right it is,
The leg was taken many months ago,
But the phantom pain refuses to go.
Awake am I at three thirty a.m.,
Writing words in rhyme and scan,
My active brain will not sleep,
To remind me of YOU, is YOUR daily plan.
LORD, I entrust my body to YOUR care,
My Soul with YOU will reside till dawn,
May I awake refreshed again,
To sing YOUR praises in the morn.
What will the daylight bring for me?
Another day to while away,
To occupy my Mind with thoughts
Of praise for YOU throughout the day.
