What's Real Poem by Jill Lynne Perez

What's Real

Another day has passed
Another moment
Gone
Still waiting
For the judgement to fade
For you to say your wrong

I'm still the girl
That made you laugh
With moronic wit
And honesty
The girl
That believed
That you saw the best
Of whatever was
Inside of me

I'm the girl that turned to you
Through tears
And Joy each time
In my searches clear
And blind,
However unrefined....

Reasons set
Are carved in stone
Breed room
For bitterness
Resentment stretched
Like fine old leather
Another form
Amiss

A moment lost
Loses the reflection of love
Time and time
Again
You can't break
What you won't fix
With an image
Of the end

I'm unafraid
And freer still
In the glory of the truth
When standing
Side by side
Or
Back to back
Was never real to you.
