What Scotland's Given The World Poem by Sheena Blackhall

What Scotland's Given The World

The decimal point- the bowling green
Helium, neon, Bovril, morphine
Tennis court, postcard. Gas mask
The bank of England- thermos flask
Writing paper- advertising
Obstetric ultrasound- street lighting
Telegraph- bus- and anaesthesia
Encyclopaedia Britannica
The telephone, video, antiseptic
Overdraft, ante-natal clinic
Geology, radar and tv
Interferon- the documentary
Dolly the cloned sheep, auld lang syne
So many things- so rare and fine
Marmalade, lawn mower, fountain pen
Mackintosh, alpha chips aid all men
The hypodermic syring, the fax
Electric light to share on your tracks
Gardenias, fake ice, insulin
Colour photos and penicillin
Kinetic energy threshing machine
Thermometer, pedal bike, steam engine
The locomotive, combustion theory
Logarithms, (maths, so scary!)
Pneumatic tyre, tar, inventions new
The photocopier, irn bru
Kaleidoscope, gravitating compass
Made in Scotland by folk like us!
