What Shall He Say? Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

What Shall He Say?

When the angels show my life up on a screen,
Will I want to run and hide or scream?
All my words that I will dread,
Cannot be taken back once they’re said.
When the angels show my life up on a screen!

If my life is portrayed then as a trial,
Will they find any evidence I was His child?
All the world could tell me how to act.
But I often fell and that is a fact.
Will my life be portrayed then as a trial?

When the King finally turns His eyes toward me,
Will my tears be so cloudy that I can’t see?
Shall I miss the forgiveness in His gaze,
Or see His head shaking in disgrace,
When the King finally turns His eyes toward me?

It is then that i shall fall prone on the ground,
And feel the shame of all others standing around!
None could even lift up their face,
They’re only here because of God’s Grace,
That is why we shall all fall prone to the ground!

What then shall my Lord have to say to me?
He will tell us Death went down in defeat!
Then gather us to Him in forgiveness and release.
He’ll wipe the tears from our eyes. All sin will be vaporized,
This is what my Savior will say to me!
And this is also what He wants to say to thee!

Welcome home child into Eternity!
